Lithuanian Girls

Lithuanian girls are hot!  Yes, hot Lithuanian girls live in a small, cold country and with about as many hills as Florida, but they are hot.  Lithuania is the largest and most populous of the Baltic states, and some geographers consider the capital city, Vilnius, to be at the geographical center of Europe.

Lithuanian was united under the ominously named Mindaugas in 1236 and through alliances and conquest Lithuania extended its territory until by the end of the 14th century Lithuania was the largest state in Europe. It controlled most of the modern states of Ukraine and Belarus and formed an alliance with Poland in 1386 which resulted in one person holding the title King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania.

That seems like a reasonable idea, because the care and feeding of kings and grand dukes tends to be expensive, so why not save money and have just one.  The Commonwealth of Poland and Lithuania lasted more or less unbroken until 1795 when Russia, Prussia, and Austria put an end to it.

So, what’s this all got to do with hot Lithuanian girls?  Well, Lithuanians brides must have always been pretty pragmatic and easy to get along with.  I mean, do you think the Lithuanians could have put up with a 409 year political marriage to Poland if they weren’t pretty patient?  Are all Lithuania women this patient?  I wouldn’t bet on it.

However, Lithuanian women are neither Slavs nor Germans, although the union with Poland and the colonization by Germans and Russians has influenced the culture and religious beliefs of Lithuania.  In many respects the country sees itself, like the other Baltic states as Scandinavian, but Lithuania is not as Scandinavian as Latvia or Estonia.  The majority of religious Lithuanian women are Catholic not Lutheran as you would expect in Scandinavia and Russian Orthodox is the second largest religious denomination.  However, the language is written with the Latin alphabet, so you don’t need to learn the Cyrillic alphabet to court a Lithuanian lady.

Lithuania regained its independence following World War I, but in 1940 Stalin forced Lithuania into the Soviet Union.  Lithuania was then conquered by the Germans in 1941 and re-conquered by the Red Army in 1944. The first half of the twentieth century was pretty much a tragedy for Lithuanian ladies.   Between 1940 and 1954 Lithuania lost over 780,000 residents from the war and the political terror of the Nazis and the Communists.

On 11 March 1990, Lithuania became the first of the Soviet republics to declare independence, but Moscow did not recognize this proclamation until September of 1991 and the last Russian troops did not withdraw until 1993. Lithuania subsequently restructured its economy for integration into Western European institutions; it joined both NATO and the European Union in the spring of 2004.
