Ivory Coast Women
The Ivory Coast is a small country on the West Coast of Africa with a population of about twenty million people. Since 1985 the country’s government has requested that it be known as Côte d'Ivoire, but it is still largely referred to by it’s English name, Ivory Coast.
Côte d'Ivoire was a French colony from 1893 until 1960 and French is the official language. However, many of the people speak local dialects on a daily basis. Also, many families do not believe in enrolling young girls in school. Most elementary and secondary students are male and there is a higher than expected rate of illiteracy among women, but most of the ladies who sign up for international dating sites are likely to be fluent in French. About 35% of Ivorians are Muslim and perhaps slightly more or Christian and the rest follow other religious practices, but it is tough to be certain about an Ivory Coast bride’s religious practices until you actually observe them. What is conservative in Kansas might not be conservative or even practiced in parts of Africa. This caution is true for both Christian and Muslims, because there are often strong undertones of native religions in both Islam and Christianity. Of course, if you don’t care about an Ivory Coast woman’s religion none of this will matter so much.
Ivory Coast Dating
The Ivory Coast was generally much more stable and economically successful than most of the other newly independent African nations from 1960 until the late 1990s. A decline in the prices of the nation’s two main commodities, coffee and coca, led to economic instability which led to a 1999 coup and that led to about five years of intermittent political violence and at times full-blown civil war.
Since 2004 the country has generally been peaceful and that makes it an easier place to pursue an African mail order bride than many countries in the region. However, there is not much of a tourist infrastructure, so it will probably be a lot more complicated to get a ticket to the Ivory Coast than you might expect, however the ticket may not be that expensive, because the government and foreign donors, particularly the French, subsidize the international air service. The same issue also applies to hotels, so the level of service and amenities might not reach the level that you expect. So, be patient and try to understand the cultural differences. Finally, one of the most surprising thing about the Ivory Coast is that it has one of the largest populations of ethnically non-Africans of any country on the continent other than South Africa. About 4% of the Ivory Coast’s population is not ethnically African. Most of these people are either of French or Vietnamese descent and there is also a substantial, but hard to quantify number of people of mixed racial heritage.
